The Mechanical Engineering Department was established in 1979. The department has an intake of 60 undergraduate and 18 postgraduate students.

The department is recognized as a research centre by JNTUA, Ananthapuramu. The department has well qualified, experienced and committed faculty to provide quality industry tuned education to the students. The Department Infrastructure fulfills the requirements of academics, supports research and learning skills on the latest technology in the industry.
The department is funded by various government bodies and supported by industries. A research grant is funded to the department by various agencies like DST, AICTE, AR&DB etc., The department has good number of MOU’s with various sectors of industry ranging from automotive to manufacturing domains. Various societies like SAE, ISTE, TRS and IE, have their student chapters in the campus bridging the gap between industry and academia. Industrial training, bridge courses are conducted periodically in the department for industries such as Prime Meiden Ltd is a Indo-Japanese joint venture company of the Prime Group ,Japanese endowment programme etc.,
The hands on training offered by our 3D Experience platform laboratory through EDS Technologies & Dassault systems supported by APSSDC ,VI laboratory , Aveva centre of excellence on DDMS .These latest design and analysis softwares bring in a formal method of familiarizing with the industrial practices helps the students to apply their class room knowledge to live industrial problems. The department is equipped with ten laboratories, a ver big central workshop and research laboratories. Robotics lab is established in association with E Yanta Project IIT Bombay under MHRD-NMICT, this lab also facilitate with ABB make Industrial Robot. The laboratories and computing facilities are made available to the students and staff until late night and on all working days.
The students are molded with multi dimensional skill sets covering all the required graduate attributes. More focus is emphasized on the practical learning, projects and research. The students of the department get into the industry through placement and there is a high inclination towards entrepreneurship and research. The department is supported by a large alumni group. Students are introduced to global challenges and encouraged to take up projects in this direction. The B.Tech Programme in Mechanical Engineering offered by the Department has been accredited by NBA for the fourth time under Tier-I for three years.
